Completely unknown to tourism as recently as the 1970s, the Maldives have for many become a byword in pampering exclusivity, and top the list for countless honeymooners worldwide.
Derived from the Sanskrit mala (garland) and dvipa (island), the Maldives are strung out like a necklace across the Equator some 400 or so miles west of southern India and Sri Lanka. This double chain of Indian Ocean atolls contains almost 1,200 islands, each bearing the promise of talcum powder beaches, warm turquoise water and coral reefs teeming with marine life.
Highlights of a Maldives Luxury Holiday
"We know the sometimes subtle but often crucial differences between one resort and another, and this allows us to pair you with your perfect match."
Here you can live out all your escapist fantasies from blissing out in a luxury spa to diving with a top marine biologist among manta rays. Every resort is effectively its own private island, reached either by speedboat or seaplane. And with over 150 competing for your attention, choosing the right one for you could easily feel a little daunting.
Our team has travelled extensively throughout the Maldives. We know the sometimes subtle but often crucial differences between one resort and another, and this allows us to pair you with your perfect match, whether you’re celebrating your honeymoon, looking for the most private of family escapes or after a world-class diving experience. We go the full nine yards to curate every last detail of your time away, no matter how small it may seem. Pre-booking spa treatments and dinners, requesting a villa with the pool and/or view you have always dreamed of, and organising unique and memorable experiences are all part of the service.
If this sounds like paradise to you, welcome along. But, as a travel company that thinks hard about the impact of our travel, we recognise that paradise–especially the Maldivian variety–is fragile. Overtourism, climate change and rising sea levels constitute clear and obvious threats to this island nation, and travelling with a light footprint is critical to ensuring the future health (and indeed viability) of both the people and the marine life that call these islands home. Our preference is always to partner with suppliers who operate responsibly and to encourage our guests to become engaged in local initiatives that support these aims, be it coral reef regeneration, whale shark conservation or community outreach projects.
Of course, visiting the Maldives need not mean you are confined to your resort. A day (or longer if you wish) spent aboard a private dhoni will let you snorkel pristine reefs and set foot on uninhabited atolls–with a candle-lit champagne beach dinner at the end of it. We can also arrange private sport fishing charters allowing you to test yourself against sailfish, wahoo and tuna. For those who relish travel’s outer edge, we can arrange for a seaplane to take you to a remote break and surf some of the planet’s most exhilarating waves. From adrenaline-charged adventures to simply sipping a fresh coconut while you curl your toes into squeaky white sand, whatever you are looking for from your time away in the Maldives, we’ll help you find it.
