Your journey begins in Jakarta, exploring the city’s colonial buildings and atmospheric streets. A short flight takes you to Padang, where a guided tour of the state museum with its ethnographic collections and a trip to the local markets await. Then it’s time for the real adventure to begin.
Travel by ferry to the remote island of Siberut rich with palm trees, gushing rivers and white sandy beaches unimpacted by Western civilisation. Accompanied by a local guide, head deep into the beating heart of the Mentawai jungle to the main settlement of the Mentawai people who have inhabited the islands since 500 BC.

A chance to experience true authenticity, you’ll stay in a simple wooden village home, or Uma, sleeping on mattresses on the floor and using shared facilities. Over the next five days, enjoy interacting with the Mentawai people and learning about their unique religion, customs and self-sustaining lifestyle whilst soaking up the lush tropical surroundings.
