Responsible Tourism in Asia

Asia - India - Giving back - family

Asia gives us so much – we cannot begin to recount the occasions that our clients have said that Asia has literally allowed them to regain their sanity - and touches their soul.

Part of this we believe, is the profoundly humbling experience of seeing how Asia lives in many cases, with so little, yet maintains that wonderful, kind hearted spirit and generous smile. We love supporting our charities and we derive a huge amount of joy in seeing how we truly can make life changing differences – from schools, to clinics, to wildlife projects. However, we cannot do this without you, our wonderful clients as the more safaris we arrange, thundefinede more we can donate to these very worthy causes.

Dr Graham's Homes

Dr. Graham's Homes, Kalimpong is a co-educational institution in India, that has provided education and care to mainly impoverished and deprived Anglo-Indian children since 1900. The school is now a boarding and day school for over 1400 pupils. The organisation's goal is to create opportunities for destitute children in northeast India to become self sufficient and to increase self esteem through care and education.

This is only achieved through the provision of financial support via donations and sustainable sponsorships from sponsors and benefactors in the UK and elsewhere. This whole process is facilitated by the UK based charity whose commitment ensures sufficient funds are raised to continue the good work enabling children who would otherwise not have the chance a safe and secure start in life.

TOFTigers

TOFTigers promotes sustainable and responsible nature tourism in the Indian subcontinent. The organisation strives to protect tigers, wildlife and forests by working with the tourism industry through the distribution

of specific guidelines for operators, service and accommodation providers and visitors.

Key to this initiative is the involvement of local communities in wildlife tourism projects, which ultimately helps not only to conserve the parks but also benefits the communities through employment and business opportunities.

Other aspects of the scheme include the PUG eco kite mark for wildlife lodges which covers areas such as nature conservation and habitat restoration, nature education, support for local communities, enterprises and services, local employment and fair wages, and accommodation footprint from building and energy use to water conservation and waste disposal.
